SAMIFLEX ELASTIC COUPLINGS SAMIFLEX ELASTOMERIC COUPLINGS Now there' s a new solution to one of the most costly and troublesome problems facing maintenance personnel - coupling failure and the expensive down time associated with fixing it. Only four parts to the Samiflex Coupling The two identical hubs ( items A & B) are manufactured in cast iron, cast steel or aluminium alloy and incorporate four, six or eight teeth, depending on size rating of the coupling. A precision cast and machined polyurethane insert ( item C) fits between the hubs and is split axially so fitting and removal can be achieved without moving hubs.The holding ring, manufactured in steel, polyamide or bronze ( item D) is fitted over the insert securing both insert and ring between hubs. The coupling requires no bolts or nuts. ATEX Approval The range of Samiflex Couplings has been approved under ATEX directive 94/ 9/ EC - for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Features and Benefits • Coupling insert removable without the need to remove either driving or driven equipment. • Change out of coupling insert is faster than any other coupling. • No lubrication or maintenance required over the life of the insert. • The polyurethane insert can be supplied in a variety of hardnesses to optimise torque capacity and damping. • Polyurethane insert is very resistant to chemical attack. • Standard insert can handle large temperature range from -40 to 80 ° C. • High temperature insert available up to 150 ° C. • Hubs can be rotated independently during motor test. • No metal to metal contact • Large bore to torque capacity • Vertical operation possible with standard coupling. • Retaining rings provided with locking screws as standard. Assembly & Disassembly Once hubs ( A) and ( B) and holding ring ( D) have been installed and aligned on the shafts the coupling hubs will not have to be moved again during the life of the equipment.The elastic insert ( C) can then be installed between the parallel SLOTS formed by the hub teeth. With the insert in position, slide the retaining ring ( D) into position over the polyurethane insert. Centrifugal force will expand the insert under operation ensuring a tight, secure fit inside the retaining ring. Removing and replacing the coupling insert is very simple and requires no special tools. By removing the retaining ring, the insert can be quickly and easily removed and replaced without the need to undo screws, bolts or other fasteners. AUTOFLEX METAL MEMBRANE COUPLINGS The Autoflex Metal Membrane Coupling is designed to provide a highly reliable connection for rotating equipment.The coupling requires no lubrication and thus is maintenance free. Properly installed, the coupling is designed to provide infinite life. Autoflex Advantages Metal membrane coupling construction provides optimum power and misalignment capability Cartridge transmission unit provides for easy assembly while maintaining an inherent balance to AGMA class 9. The Autoflex has an optional design to handle non-standard DBSE* using factory assembled Guard Ring Packs which are bolted to a standard spacer tube. Membranes are made from high strength 301 stainless steel. Hubs have been optimised to provide a larger bore capacity. All steel parts are phosphate coated. II 2 GD The Autoflex membrane has been optimised using finite element analysis.This has resulted in a waisted link design which provides more flexibility and thus substantially lower reaction forces on the bearing of the connected equipment. The stresses through the new membrane design are uniform and are inherently low due to the reduced weight and inertia of the pack.The membranes have been designed to provide for infinite life utilising a safety factor of 2 times on the Modified Goodman Diagram. * DBSE - Distance Between Shaft Ends Reduced windage configuration which also provides an inherent fail-safe feature in the unlikely event of membrane failure. Overload collars also provide an inherent fail-safe feature, protecting the membrane in the event of severe transient torque overloads. Coupling performance is enhanced using high grade washers with an optimised radius profile. Higher grades of dynamic balance are possible through the elimination of balance tools.Gagging is achieved by locking the guard ring to the spacer flange. The Autogard Series 820 has been designed to meet the emerging need for a high torque, high and low speed Torque Limiter. The Torque Limiter is designed using a modular principle. The trip torque setting can be set to virtually any value. It is dependant upon the radius at which the modules are located and the number of modules used. A hardened seat ( 1) is built into one half of the Torque Limiter. The module unit is then located into the opposing flange in such a way that the torque is transmitted between the plunger ( 2) and the hardened seat.This produces an end thrust in the plunger in proportion to the applied torque.This force is resisted by a ring of segments ( 3) trapped between a flat surface and a conical washer loaded by disc springs ( 4) . When the axial force reaches a level greater than the reaction force through the spring mechanism, the plunger will retract forcing the segments up the plunger slope and allowing the plunger to disengage from the hardened seat.The Torque Limiter is now allowed to run free. The trip torque is externally adjusted and is achieved by turning the adjustment nut ( 5) to increase or decrease the spring pressure. Resetting is accomplished by simply aligning the two halves, positioning the plunger over the hardened seat, and tapping the reset pin ( 7) with a soft hammer. Automatic reset versions are also available. The modular Torque Limiter may incorporate an optional limit switch plate, which moves on trip and can operate a switch to stop the drive. SLIDE LAG REPLACEABLE PULLEY LAGGING The Replaceable Slide Lagging is able to extremely extend the lifetime of pulleys, in addition, it makes on site installation and replacement come true without removing belts and pulleys from the equipment. The slide plates in and out of special metal retainer which have been securely welded to the pulley face.
